The Smuggler's Cove shipwreck site is the most famous of all of Zakynthos beaches and one of the most famous and recognisable photographs from any of the Greek Islands.

It is situated at the eastern part of the island. The beach took its name from the ship that, in 1983, allegedly transported contraband and when wrecked washed up on the beach that has over the years, grown up around it.

There is still some debate however, and many sources report that the ship wreck was transported there with the deliberate intention of creating a tourist spot.

The ruins of the ship are on the middle of a beautiful white sandy beach with crystal waters. The beach is surrounded by vertical white rock cliffs that make an impressive and memorable picture.
