Convair CV-400 Metropolitan aircraft

This CV-440 aircraft, G-CONV, started it's life in the USA with Mohawk Airlines, New York in July 1959. It was sold to Executive Airlines, Boston in June 1971 then repossessed by First National Bank in December 1971. Wright Airlines of Cleveland bought it in March 1972 and then Key Airlines, IH in 1976. Basler Flight Service Inc of Oshkosh bought it in June 1986. Omni Air Group, Spokane then bought it in November 1995 and it went to Europe as CS-TML of the Portugese airline Agroar Trabalhoa Aereos in May 1997.

Air Atlantique of Coventry, UK then purchased the aircraft in October 1999 but it wasn't re-registered G-CONV until April 2001. Unfortunately a test flight, with CAA officials on board, resulted in failure after an engine fire caused damage to the hydraulic system. The aircraft was basically written off and plans were shelved until it was purchased by Andrew Scott of Reynard Nursery, Carluke, UK who plans to turn the aircraft into a luxury hotel.
